ACT Medical founder becomes Fellow of Royal Society of Arts
The Royal Society of Arts (RSA) has been at the forefront of significant social impact for more than 260 years.
Fellows of the RSA are drawn from a diverse range of disciplines, including arts, business, design, education, engineering, fashion, science and technology.
It is a platform for research and innovative ideas for a diverse global community of 30,000 problem-solvers around the world.
Its goal is to deliver solutions for lasting change and a future that works for all - something of great interest to ACT Medical and our founder.
Joseph Bentley FRSA
Joseph was accepted as a Fellow of the RSA in January 2022.
As a Fellow, he benefits from access to a wide range of resources and opportunities to support the further development of ACT Medical.
He is also able to connect with like-minded individuals who are committed to making a difference.
Writing at the time, he reflected on the potential of admission: “I am honoured to be offered a position within this Fellowship and am very excited to learn and grow within this community of innovative change makers.”
Opportunities of fellowship
The RSA is a membership body that has been championing innovation, creativity and social progress since 1754.
For ACT Medical it offers a platform for us to engage with other thought leaders and share ideas as we work together to create positive change in society.
It also means that we can meet innovators from outside our own med-tech sector.
1851 Enterprise Fellowship
Founder Joseph Bentley is an 1851 Enterprise Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering for his work with ACT Medical.
He was selected for a place after undergoing a rigorous and detailed application and interview process during the summer of 2022.
Admission comes with £50,000 of equity-free funding, which Joseph has used towards the ongoing development and testing of our system.
